PCH Manufacturing and all the team are gearing up for an eventful summer! First on the agenda we look to 2017’s South West Construction Summit taking place on Friday 9th June in Bristol’s, Ashton Gate Stadium. As attendees and exhibitors we hope to be able to share expertise and best practice, explore new strategic opportunities and contribute to supporting one of the region’s most prominent events for the construction industry.
Reflecting on 3 Key Themes
In reflecting on the 3 key themes for this years’ summit: skills & image, productivity, and sustainability we have taken a little time to look at our own activities and how we are driving forward business in the South West.
Skills & Image
In the past year we have made a significant effort to invest in our people’s skills and support them in undertaking qualifications that allow for personal and professional development. This has recently been recognised by the award of Gold standard Investors in People.
And these Gold standards certainly call for a ‘new look’! Brand new uniforms to reflect our fresh company brand – when you see the orange and grey iconic lighthouse logo, that shouts of our home, Plymouth, we want you to think PCH Manufacturing!
Over the past few months we have engaged expertise to support us in the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that will work towards our goal of increasing productivity. By acting as our central data repository and manufacturing control system the ERP solution will benefit our daily operations in a number of ways including: Providing improved customer experience at enquiry and order stages, preventing the repetition of manual administrative tasks; improving the provision of an accurate costing model, improved stock controls and procurement of material and increasing efficiency and communications across all workshops.
In supporting our community PCH Manufacturing invests any profits made back through our parent company, Plymouth Community Homes, thus contributing to the growth of sustainable developments. This supports developing new affordable housing, increasing access to social housing and delivering affordable renting schemes. It also enables Plymouth Community Homes to provide free training and advice services to citizens of Plymouth.
Everyone here at PCH Manufacturing is looking forward to the opportunity to support this year’s summit and to meet with many other like-minded businesses to discuss topical issues. If you are not already attending we would urge you to have a look at this year’s programme and book soon to avoid disappointment.
